Tony Rice

Every year, Ricky Scaggs does a few shows around the country he calls the Pickin' Party. Tony Rice is one of his featured players, along with Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas. Tony, Ricky, Sam and David Grisman - among others, were all in a band together in the early 1970's. These shots were made in his dressing room at Wolf Trap, Vienna, VA, 1996. Tony is a sharp dresser, always sporting a dark blue or black suit, starched white shirt, tie & pony tail- neatly tied back . Sort of reminds me of Doc Holiday - only instead of carrying a pistol, Tony packs a wicked 1935 Martin D-28.
