Les Paul

Les Paul: After listening to Les speak at a Smithsonian lecture in Washington, D.C., I thought I'd never see him again. By chance I met his son Rusty afterwards, we spoke and exchanged business cards. Two months later I was in New York at the Iridum club photographing Les in concert. Between shows I went to his dressing room and made this image of Les holding his "Number 001" guitar. Since that night I've photographed him at least a dozen times, but I have never seen him take a guitar into the dressing room. I guess after 60+ years of playing, warming up before a show isn't really necessary.
