B.B. King

Living in Washington, D.C. has given me many opportunities to shoot concerts at Wolf Trap. This magical place is the only National Park dedicated to the presentation of music. Located Vienna, Virginia, only a few miles west of Washington, it is open and airy. Surrounded by thick trees and grassy hills that you can lay on and listen to music.

B.B. King is the headliner of a blues tour that comes thru Washington every summer. I was lucky enough to get press credentials to this show. This shot is my favorite. B.B. was just playing (to himself it seemed) when he turned his back to me and stood there, bathed in light from a solitary spot. Seeing him from the behind reminds me of the photo showing Winston Churchill, seated on a rock, by a pond. You don't see his face, only his back, but you know just who it is.
